Wirepas uses Received Signal Strength (RSS) to estimate the position of each tag—similar in principle to Wi-Fi-based systems, but far simpler to deploy and maintain. Unlike traditional infrastructure, Wirepas anchors are battery-powered, require no cabling, and automatically form a self-healing, scalable mesh network. Each anchor intelligently manages network communication and dynamically determines the most efficient route to send positioning data to the PlantQuest server via a Wirepas gateway. This fully distributed architecture eliminates single points of failure and ensures reliable, low-maintenance location tracking across large and complex facilities.
